Joel Wycherley

Joel Wycherley (UK) lives and works in London. He graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Slade School of Fine Art in 2015 and is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Arts (2024–2027). His work encompasses sculpture, installation, and printmaking. Primarily using materials salvaged from construction sites, he employs traditional and contemporary techniques to combine fragmented figuration with formal language. His practice explores the cross-contamination between domestic and natural environments, centering on narratives of speculative renewal and regeneration within the waste of industrial capitalist practices. With an interest in the often crude ways we approximate, translate, and reproduce experiential phenomena, his work examines where these systems of communication falter, collapse, and become abstract. Favouring the half-light of the crepuscular, his pieces occupy the suspended transformation of one state into the next—solid into liquid, visible to invisible, and back again.
